Burrito

A kind couple found Burrito gravely ill near the Johnston Landfill on Valentine's Day and rushed him to EGAPL. Burrito is believed to be over a year old, but weighed a mere two and a half pounds when he arrived at Greenwich Bay Animal Hospital. He was suffering from worms and a severe respiratory infection which prevented him from opening his eyes.

Burrito is a real trooper, though! He has doubled his weight and his eyes are healing. Despite all that he's been through, he still purrs and shows his gratitude to the staff and volunteers caring for him! Burrito's treatment has been expensive, but it's worth it to see this tiny boy play with his toys and experience the safety and comfort that all animals deserve.

Burrito will be with us for some time while he recovers. Please consider a donation towards Burrito's care: you can donate on this site via PayPal. All monies donated go directly towards the care of the animals and are tax deductible. On behalf of the East Greenwich Animal Protection League - and Burrito - we thank you!

I am a tabby. I should be in the movies. That is my toy .

Jack

Jack is a three-year-old handsome tuxedo male with unusual markings. A big mush, he is always purring and can make himself comfortable anywhere! Jack likes other cats and is good with dogs and children, too. He has been neutered and is up to date with his vaccinations. Jack eats special food due to allergies, which he will need to continue on when he is adopted. It can be purchased from a veterinarian through an initial prescription. Jack's food is inexpensive and is worth it for such an agreeable boy!

I see you way over there. Hey there. I want someone to play with me.

Will you let your home be the one he can explore and live a happy, healthy life in?

I can be so serious. But not all the time! I'm on the lookout for a new home.

Panther

Panther is a sleek black two-year-old male. He is a loving boy who likes to get a snuggle with his human every now and then! Panther can become a little anxious without stimulation such as toys and playing to distract him, so he will require some patience and understanding to bring out his true soft side!

Are you speaking to me? Meowwwwww. I see that up there.

Why Adopt A Mature Cat?
An older cat will generally be quieter and more sensible than a kitten or a young cat. Instead of becoming bored and needing to let off steam in your absence, they are more likely to doze while leaving your furnishings intact.
As cats grow older, they are more home-oriented and settled, making them excellent companions. An older cat will be much more appreciative of pampering than a kitten.
An older cat provides calm companionship.

If the potential adopter works outside the home or is otherwise frequently away, they will find that an adult cat will adapt to their home much more comfortably than a kitten.
Adult cat's personalities are already formed so you know what you're getting, i.e. lap cat vs. kitten in an adult body. You cannot mold a cat's personality.

More reasons to adopt an older pet:
  1. When senior pets are adopted, they seem to understand that they've been rescued, and are all the more thankful for it.
  2. A senior pet's personality has already developed, so you'll know if he or she is a good fit for your family.
  3. You can teach an old dog (or cat or other pet) new tricks (I do every day with my own cats!): Senior pets have the attention span and impulse control that makes them easier to train than their youthful counterparts.
  4. A senior pet may very well already know basic commands anyway!
  5. In particular, senior pets are often already housetrained, or can be more easily housetrained than a young pet with a tiny bladder.
  6. A senior pet won't grow any larger, so you'll know exactly how much pet you're getting.
  7. Senior pets are often content to just relax in your company, unlike younger pets, who may get into mischief because they're bored.
  8. Speaking of relaxing, senior pets make great napping buddies.
  9. Senior pets know that chew toys (not shoes) are for chewing and scratching posts (not furniture) are for scratching.
  10. Senior pets are some of the hardest to find homes for -- so when you adopt a senior pet, you're truly saving a life.
